Area Carpets - Area Rugs and Oriental
Rugs
Area carpets, also known as area rugs, can enhance the beauty of nearly any room.
Many people love hardwood floor but they hate the echoing noise and bareness associated with hardwood flooring.
Adding area carpets to these types of floors can really warm up a room while cutting down on empty echoes
throughout the space.
One of the reasons that people choose to install hardwood flooring is because it is a natural material. This
natural material is wonderful for anyone who suffers from allergies because dirt and dust do not become imbedded
into the floors as it does with wall-to-wall carpeting. Most wall-to-wall carpets are made of synthetic fibers, as
well.
It is reasonable to assume that area carpets are created out of synthetic materials too... and many of them are.
However, an environmentally-conscious family may want to look into buying natural area
carpets made out of non-synthetic material. Natural area carpets are available in a wide range of
colors and styles and they are sure to suit just about any décor.
Adding a nice rug to your home décor can add warmth to the space. Choosing area carpets that compliment the
colors in the room will help provide stability and warmth in the rooms. They provide balance and give a nice, cozy
feel to the rooms in your home.
Comfort is another major issue. Hardwood flooring is quite beautiful itself but it can be a little cold and,
well, hard. Area carpets provide a soft touch that makes the room inviting and comfortable. Bare floors are stark
and cold in contrast.
There are three different ways that area carpets, or area rugs, are
manufactured:

You can also make bold style statements through careful planning and well thought-out purchase decisions. Area
carpets can add an elegant feel to a room with formal, intricate designs. You can choose area carpets that have an
Asian feel or you can select clean, modern designs.
Traditional area rugs have a timeless appeal that can suit nearly any home. If you have a country cottage or an
old Victorian home, you can easily find a wide range of area carpets from which to choose. These classic accents
are a must in these traditional-style homes.
Even homes that have a relaxed, island feel benefit from area carpeting, especially the rugs that boast natural
fibers and casual style. These accents can provide the perfect ambience for a more laid-back design that is both
functional and attractive.
The right area carpets can absorb empty echoes. They can provide warmth and comfort and they can make stylish
statements about your home’s personality. Taking a little time to review your options can help you reveal a bit
about yourself as well.
Oriental Rugs
My personal favorite area carpet or rug is the Oriental rug. As the name implies, they come
from the Near and Far East. Here are the names of the 6 most popular types of Oriental rugs:
- Caucasian
- Chinese
- Persian
- Turkish
- Indian
- Turkoman
Look for the better Oriental area carpets. These will have more knots, more distinct patterns, finer lines and
they will be heavier.
I have purchased several Oriental rugs for my home and each time I asked the sales person if I could take it
home for the evening to see how it would blend with the decor in the room I wanted to put it in. If it doesn't fit
the room you can always go back and exchange it for another.
Make sure you are able to do this before purchasing... just to make sure. A reputable store that really wants to
please its customers will have no problem letting you do this.
